Swedish climate change activist Greta Thunberg has been named TIME Magazine's 2019 Person of the Year.
The 16 year old, who sparked a global movement when she started an environmental protest outside the Swedish Parliament building last year, and has since gone on to speak at various UN summits and conferences, is the youngest person to be selected by the magazine, and TIME's Editor-in-Chief Edward Felsenthal commented 'Meaningful change rarely happens without the galvanizing force of influential individuals, and in 2019, the earth's existential crisis found one in Thunberg'.
